Doctors and physician assistants: Medical Board.
Open the board’s consumer page and follow its doctor or PA lookup. PA is short for physician assistant.
Nurse practitioners: Board of Nursing.
A nurse practitioner is a nurse approved to work in that role. Use the nursing board’s record to check the name.
Pharmacies: Board of Pharmacy.
Follow the license verification link on the board’s site. Search the name of the pharmacy that would actually handle your medicine.
A clean record has limits.
The federal drug agency, known as FDA, is the Food and Drug Administration.
- Match the full name, rather than a similar name.
- Read the current status and any limits in the record.
- Ask about an entry you do not understand.
A license check answers who is allowed to work in that role. Keep asking how the person would assess your concern and explain the plan.
