Where you sit matters.
A clinician is the person who assesses or treats you. Telehealth means care by a screen, phone or online messages.
- Give the service the location you will use for the visit.
- Ask which license permits the clinician to treat you there.
A first visit may be remote.
A live visit happens while both people are online. In a reviewed-later visit, you send information and the clinician responds later.
“Asynchronous” is the term for sending information that someone reviews later. It means you do not have to be online together.
A fixed form is not the whole visit.
Ask what happens after the screen closes.
Ask how to contact the clinician, share new symptoms and arrange a visit in person.
A referral means arranging care with another clinician.
Follow-up means the care conversation that happens after the first visit.
